Director of Product Development
Mike has spent his entire professional life designing, developing and managing technology-related business solutions. It’s no accident that the common thread woven throughout Mike’s career is outsourced technology; his first job out of college was with Electronic Data Systems, (EDS), whose pioneering business model (providing information systems on an outsourced basis) and whose founder and CEO, Ross Perot, both achieved international acclaim. Mike’s first EDS assignment was with Delco Electronics, an Oak Creek, Wisconsin company. Immediately prior to founding Celera Systems with his two colleagues, Kevin Klein and Gary Maradik, who remain his partners fifteen years later, Mike was a Senior Consultant with Celera’s predecessor company, Sycamore Group, a software development and information technology consulting firm, dedicated largely to serving Wisconsin’s fast-growing asset management industry. Celera is not Mike’s first entrepreneurial undertaking; he previously co-founded a software development firm where he developed modular accounting, inventory, and database management systems for manufacturing companies. Mike’s appreciation of sales and marketing strategy, so important to Celera’s clients, was deepened when he developed and implemented the IT strategy to support the marketing division of a multi-national company.
Mike earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Marquette University in Computer Science, where his interest in retrieving data was first cultivated. As a curious undergraduate, one of Mike’s most memorable research projects involved the collection and organization of data measuring brain impulse signals from rats in Marquette’s biology lab.
Mike is an avid cyclist, whose long distance weekend biking adventures with friends and family (ask him about his rides across Iowa!) and 20 mile round trip commute to work on many days (even during Wisconsin’s winter months) keep him in the saddle. Self-acclaimed “Mr. Fix It”, who can tackle any household maintenance project, Mike was very active in his community as a youth sports coach and cub scout leader when his three sons were youngsters. His role as a youth leader continues, and extends to organizing mission trips for his church and to his involvement with a highly regarded children’s’ organization, where he serves as a board member.
Mike, his wife Cindy and their three boys live in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin.
